THE WORLDS IN RENO, A FEW THOUGHTS

Postby BRENTSGTROCKHOWARD on Thu Aug 20, 2009 4:43 am

I spoke with Gus very recently. EVERYONE that is going NEEDS TO BOOK THE HOTEL VIA THE 1-800 NUMBER TO THE PEPPERMILL AND MENTION THE WABDL EVENT! In a nutshell, Gus "promises" to supply a certain amount of rooms in order to get a workable rate for the ballroom, if he DOES NOT FILL THE QUOTA, HE HAS TO PAY THOUSANDS EXTRA! Keep in mind this does NOT come out of Gus's take home so to speak, in the end it really hurts ALL of us, the WABDL supporters. The group rates he has locked in are CHEAPER than the hotel rates the Peppermill has on the net, check for yourself. You may save a few bucks staying in a crappy hotel and walking to the venue, but like I stated above, it only hurts ALL of us in the end, and having competed in Reno several times, THE PEPPERMILL IS THE BEST VENUE IN RENO!!!!! The rooms are comparable to the Bellagio, and that is NO JOKE.

On a different note, I purchased the offical WABDL VERSION DL BAR by Mac Barbell, designed by BUZZSAW Gus himself, BEST DL BAR I HAVE EVER USED AND I HAVE USED THEM ALL!

Attention to TEAM FINLAND AND SWEDEN! How are you my friend??!!! Please bring your whole team again, you guys are great lifters and even better people, Tony Caprari, Rich Hawthorne and I will be representing THE USA (SECRET INSIDE WORD C3!) and look forward to competing against YOUR best.

The CAPELLO award is going to be the most sought after trophy of the entire show in my opinion, my question to Gus is there ONE award OR ONE FOR EACH OPEN FLIGHT?

OCTOBER IS COMING.....KEEP PUSHING AND PULLING, AND STAY HEALTHY

Throw up your name here and your divisons, lets start a big thread and get some hype about the BIGGEST MEET IN THE WORLD!!!!! I have been to ten or more and I get more excited each time!!!!!!! When you dont get nervous it is time to retire, and Sgt Rock is FAR from that point!!!!!

I really cant afford it either this year alot of different unexpected costs came up, but I would'nt miss it for nothing. The cool thing for me and three others that are coming with, we already have a house to stay at, Hopefully I won't have to sell any of my kids to get there but we are coming.Just from other lifters posting on different forums and such, it is looking to have a huge amount of awesome lifters coming. To many big names to start naming them but theres going to be some highly competitive classes. Ya, I'm coming unless I tear something by then... Hopefully not. It is expensive, being that I'm an East coaster, but I'm pretty sure that the
experience alone will be well worth it. Go team Pennsylvania... How do I sign up for USA lol? When are the tryouts?

I'm bringing 25 of my UHD Powerlifting kids all the way from Houston and we're entering as a team. I'll be deadlifting in the Open and Master 40-46 308s and aiming for Tom McCullough's World Record of 755 which has stood since 2001.

Good training and good health to all!

See you in Reno . . .

I'll be benching in the 165 open, but unsure of a max because I just started training with a shirt last week, but I'll be ready. I'm also not positive whether or not to deadlift. Don't know how well I'll do...

Dr. John, Having seen you deadlift in the past, I believe you have a pretty good shot at that record. Dr. Jeff Phx AZ

I just got the word my boyz Tony and Rich may NOT be in Reno. What a bummer. I will keep you posted. That opens up two open world title slots.
